Inclusion, Diversity, Representation & Art – Mural Project
The content of the murals was inspired by the AC community. The selection of each element of the mural by the artists was driven by their conversations and interactions with learners and employees on each of the campuses. These murals are our campus’ compelling vision for inclusion, diversity, and belonging.
"Onah" by Jimmy Baptiste - "Onah" de Jimmy Baptiste
In February, Jimmy Baptiste’s Onah is featured on the National Arts Centre’s Kipnes Lantern, lighting up the downtown area. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the Afrofuturistic colours of the Haitian-Canadian artist’s work, which was specially commissioned by the NAC for Black History Month. En février, "Onah" de Jimmy Baptiste habille la lanterne Kipnes du Centre national des Arts et illumine le cœur de la ville. Les visiteurs sont ainsi invités à plonger dans les couleurs afrofuturistes de l’œuvre de l’artiste aux origines haïtiennes, œuvre commandée spécialement par le CNA à l’occasion du Mois de l’histoire des Noirs. Jimmy Baptiste lends his talent to the "We're All In The Same Boat" Artistic Series for his rendition of "The Beaver"". Jimmy finds artistic influence through educating the next generation of artists and from the creative sub-cultures of Tattoos, Graffiti, and Manga/Comic Books, often incorporating text into his works.
